Elements Brunswick – Carbon Neutral
Alpha14 are proud to present this boutique, innovative and high quality project. Partnering with Plus Architecture and GIW Environmental Solutions, implementing carbon neutral design elements we are set to deliver a carbon neutral and fossil fuel free operations building at Elements Brunswick, our new residential development in premier Barkly Street, Brunswick.
Plus Architecture have designed a building that includes:
- Full height double glazed windows for premium energy efficiency and sound proofing
- Thermal insulation to ensure the apartment stays cool in the summer and warm throughout winter, reducing energy bills
- Natural ventilation, with a considered approach to airflow giving cleaner air and a cost saving on cooling
- Solar panels that are used to leverage the sun to heat water year-round with energy efficient panels saving on heating bills
- LED lighting throughout all apartments saving money on lighting bills and lowering energy consumption
- Sustainability: the build has been highly considered with 80% of all construction waste to be recycled.
- Gas free – instead of natural gas, the building is fitted with high efficiency all-electric services including premium induction cooktops and heat pump hot water, eliminating fossil fuel reliance; coupled by solar PV, thermal storage further bolsters efficiency
GIW Environmental Solutions are engaged to provide Environmentally Sustainable Design:
- The building has integrated passive design principles, a high performance building envelope and efficient services to reduce the operational emissions. The apartments are on track to achieve a 7.5 star average energy rating result which is significantly better than the 6 star minimum compliance requirement.
- The base building and the embedded network will be established under a 100% GreenPower agreement. The building will be provided with a 25kW solar PV system which will feed into the embedded network to benefit all building occupants.
- Remaining emissions will be balanced using certified carbon offsets.
- Ongoing monitoring and metering will inform occupants and the building operator on how to best operate their apartments and common areas.
